Exploring the disappearance of ‘graffiti’ in contradictory public restrooms and its relationship with freedom of expression and urban management, this work examines the reduction of residents’ private spaces under the escalating urban hierarchy. Using graffiti culture to reflect on the death of freedom among people in first-tier cities.
I speculate that in the future, management systems and big data will control more of the free space and expression of different social classes. This would lead to a completely transparent life and behavior, reflecting and critiquing excessive management systems and the loss of discourse power.
